Trees for Grannies

This campaign is about planting more shady trees in the areas where a lot of old people live. Why? For seniors thermoregualtion is pretty difficult. Thermoregulation is the way we juggle our bodytemperature. It's about adapting to cold, but also adapting to warmth. Trees provide coolness, by creating shade and by evaporating water. The campaign roughly can be devided into three steps:

step 1: research; Which trees cool the best? What's your personal favorite? Is it a Paulownia, Red Maple or Tulip Poplar?  As the campaign just started, the list is still short.

step 2: locations; Which old peoples homes look very "cool" and "green" based on arial images? And ofcourse, which homes could use some improvement? You can use for example Google Streetview to get a first impression of the situation in the area where you live.

step 3: planting; Matching a "grey" old peoples home with a local company, relatives or friends. Make a plan to plant and turn the home "green". Give Granny a shady tree instead of a box of chocolates. You can mail the "before" and "after" images to Dit e-mail adres is beschermd tegen spambots. The campaing is not about raising money, it's about matching the right old peoples home, finding the right trees, local hands and budget to get the work done.
